Norfloxacin 1200 mg + Tinidazole 1800 mg Veterinary Bolus is a combination veterinary antimicrobial formulation containing norfloxacin and tinidazole, designed to provide complementary antimicrobial activity against selected susceptible bacterial and protozoal organisms. Norfloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics and works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair and multiplication. This action helps prevent the growth and spread of susceptible bacteria, particularly certain Gram-negative organisms. Tinidazole belongs to the nitroimidazole group of antimicrobial agents and acts against susceptible anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoal organisms by interfering with their DNA structure and synthesis, ultimately resulting in their destruction. The combination brings together two different antimicrobial mechanisms and may be considered for selected mixed infections where both bacterial and protozoal organisms are suspected and susceptible to the respective ingredients. Depending on the approved veterinary formulation, target species and clinical diagnosis, it may be intended for the management of certain gastrointestinal infections and related infectious conditions in livestock. By helping control susceptible microorganisms, the formulation may support recovery from infection-associated digestive disturbances and other clinical symptoms. The bolus dosage form is designed for oral administration and provides a convenient method of dosing in larger animals when prescribed by a qualified veterinarian. The dosage should be determined according to the animal's species, body weight, clinical condition, infection type and approved product instructions. Possible adverse effects may include reduced appetite, digestive discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting or other species-specific reactions. Norfloxacin requires particular care because inappropriate fluoroquinolone use can contribute to antimicrobial resistance and may be restricted in food-producing animals. Tinidazole also has important species-specific safety and regulatory considerations. The stated strengths of Norfloxacin 1200 mg and Tinidazole 1800 mg should be verified against the approved product composition, target animal species and recommended dosage before marketing or administration. This formulation should be used only under veterinary supervision, with appropriate attention to antimicrobial stewardship, treatment duration, applicable regulatory requirements and prescribed meat and milk withdrawal periods for food-producing animals.
