Mefenamic Acid & Dicyclomine Veterinary Tablets is a combination veterinary formulation containing mefenamic acid and dicyclomine, intended to help manage pain, abdominal discomfort and spasmodic cramps when prescribed for an appropriate animal species. Mefenamic acid belongs to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) group and works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes involved in prostaglandin production, thereby helping reduce pain, inflammation and associated discomfort. Dicyclomine is an antispasmodic agent with anticholinergic properties that helps relax smooth muscles by reducing the action of acetylcholine on muscarinic receptors. This action may help relieve smooth-muscle spasms and cramping in the gastrointestinal tract. The combination is intended to provide complementary relief from pain and spasmodic discomfort, particularly in conditions where both inflammatory pain and smooth-muscle contractions are involved. Depending on the approved veterinary formulation, it may be considered for selected gastrointestinal or abdominal conditions in animals. The tablet dosage form offers a convenient method of oral administration and can support accurate dosing when given according to veterinary instructions. Possible adverse effects may include vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal irritation, constipation, dry mouth, reduced intestinal movement or urinary difficulties. Mefenamic acid requires caution in animals with kidney, liver or gastrointestinal disorders, while dicyclomine should be used carefully in conditions where reduced intestinal motility may be harmful. The ingredient strengths, target animal species and approved indications should be confirmed from the product formulation before marketing or administration. Use only under veterinary supervision, follow the recommended species-specific dosage and observe applicable withdrawal periods for food-producing animals.
